Abraham Leaphart Jr., was born on February 20, 1946 to the Late Abraham Sr. and Panzie Leaphart.
"Bug", as he was affectionately called by his friends and family, gained his wings on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
Abraham graduated from Lexington Rosenwald High School in 1964 where he excelled in football and basketball during his high school days. He attended Allen University where he also played football.
Abraham married his sweetheart, Barbara Gardner. From this union, three children were born. Two daughters, Melissa Michelle Leaphart, Vanessa Jean Leaphart (deceased), and one son, Eric Dewaune Leaphart.
Abraham joined the army where he served three years at Fort Benning, Gorgia. After his military service, he went to work for Carolina Gravue for many years. He retired from Anchor Continental.
Abraham joined New Bethel AME Church at an early age where he was very active. He loved the Men's Choir which he sang faithfully until his health failed. He was on the Trustee Board and Steward Board. Abraham was also a member of the American Legion Post 217.
Abraham was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen; Four brothers, William "T" Walker, Samuel, George, and Franklin Leaphart; Two brothers-in-law, Robert Jones and Rev. Charles Hudson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Barbara; Daughter, Melissa; Son, Eric (Quinnetta); Four grandchildren, Madison, Quinton, and Legend of Kimberly, AL and Christopher Leaphart of Locust Grove, GA; Two sisters, Mattie M. Hudson, Panzie "Bert" (Michael) Johnson of Charlottesville VA; Three Sisters-In-Law, Rosetta Leaphart, Roxie Leaphart, and Tiny Younginer, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
