Sergeant First Class James Clay Steadman was born on January 1, 1970 to Sylvester and Carolyn Steadman. James crossed over to be with our Lord and Savior on the 28th day of November, 2011.
James joined the United States Navy straight out of high school in August of 1988. From the Navy, he joined the United States Army and served our country for over 23 years. James has served in conflicts, battles and wars for our country. He earned a BS degree in Social Psychology from Park University.
James earned a number of awards and decorations. They are as follows: MSM1, ARCOM3, MQBE-P1, MQBE-R1, AAM7, MUC1, MMUC1, AGCM4, NDSM2, KDASM1, AFEM1, SWABS1, GWTSM1, NOPDR3, ASR1, NSSDR1, KUKULIBM1, COA6 and DMB-DWV-1.
James has left behind to cherish his precious memory: both of his parents; two sisters - Carolyn A. Haggood and Sylvia Steadman; one brother - Steven J. Steadman; a wife - Lachon Renee Steadman; one son - James Clay Steadman, II; one brother-in-law - Randy Haggood; four sisters-in-law - Sheltanya Steadman; Patricia Dixon, Valerie Acklin and LaToya Avery; a mother-in-law - Vale Jean Avery; sixteen nieces and nephews; sixteen great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends and fellow soldiers.
Service Information
VISITATION
The family will be receiving friends at the J.H. Robinson Funeral Home, 190 Railroad ave., Wagener, SC on Monday, December 12, 2011 from 3pm to 7pm.
FUNERAL SERVICES
SGT. JAMES CLAY STEADMAN will have homegoing services on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC.
