Janie Mae Livingston

Janie Mae “Mama” Livingston transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, July 1, 2019 while at her residence.

Mama was born on May 3, 1925, in Wagener, SC. She was one of seventeen (17) children born to the union of the late Ivra and William Ables.

On December 7, 1943, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Grady “Sonny Boy” Livingston. They were blessed with fifteen (15) children. Four (4) children preceded her in death, which were Grady Jr., Jimmy Lee, Janet, and Grady Ronnie.

Mama was a prayerful mother and loving servant of God who loved to sing.

She leaves to cherish precious memories and words of wisdom: five (5) daughters: Sarah M. Scott, Patricia (Isaac) Quattlebaum, Ivra I. Fenner, Hester A. (Stanley) Brown, and Janice Livingston; six (6) sons: Willie L. (Carrie) Livingston, Vernoy (Rosa) Livingston, Larry Livingston, Bernard (Evelyn) Livingston, Berry Livingston, Royd (Rosemary) Livingston; three (3) step-daughters: Eva Mae Thomas, Sandra Smith, Debra Glover; two (2) sisters: Alberta Ables and Carrie Miller; one brother: Arthur (Nona) Ables; one sister-in-law Carolyn Livingston; a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all memorials be made to Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, 1186 Smyrna Church Rd., Springfield, SC 29146.
